What is Grind-by-Sync?
Grind-by-Sync lets the grinder and a compatible espresso machine exchange data. When a shot runs too fast, the grinder automatically makes the grind finer; when it runs too slow, it makes it coarser. This keeps your extractions consistent without constant manual adjustments.

Do I need a compatible espresso machine?
Only to use the Grind-by-Sync function. The E65W GbS also works as a standalone grinder, with grind-by-weight, grind-by-time, and manual modes.

What’s the difference between the E65W GbS and the E80W GbS?
Both share the same electronics, software, and Grind-by-Sync technology. The E80W GbS has larger 80 mm burrs and a higher grinding capacity, while the E65W GbS is more compact and better suited to lower and medium volumes.

How does portafilter detection work?
You save your portafilters by weight in the grinder. When you insert one, the grinder recognizes it, selects the matching recipe, and starts grinding automatically.

How much can it grind per day?
The E65W GbS has a maximum daily output of 30 kg. At 110 V, it can grind up to 2 double espressos per minute, with a maximum of 10 minutes of continuous grinding.

Does it need an internet connection?
No. WiFi and cloud are only needed for Grind-by-Sync through the cloud, the Mahlkönig Sync app, and automatic software updates. The grinder works fully offline as a standalone grinder.

Can I stop baristas from changing the recipes?
Yes. The owner can disable recipe editing for baristas and protect settings with a password. Baristas can still adjust the grind size.

Care & Maintenance

• Daily: Remove the bean hopper and clean it inside and out with a damp cloth to remove coffee oils, which can affect taste. Dry it before refitting
• Every 2–5 days: Clean the grinding mechanism with a grinder cleaner such as GRINDZ™, then grind the same amount of coffee beans to remove any remaining particles
• Weekly: Remove and clean the spout system with a nylon-bristle brush and a damp cloth. Avoid scratching the spout, as coffee can stick to scratches and affect dosing
• Regularly: Wipe the casing, collecting tray, and the surface underneath the grinder with a damp cloth
• When needed: Calibrate the load cell using a calibration weight, especially after moving the grinder
• What to avoid: Never immerse the grinder in water, clean it with a water jet or compressed air, or put the tray or hopper lid in the dishwasher. When adjusting the portafilter support, don’t apply too much force, as it can affect the load cell
