Elevate your coffee routine with the Rocket Espresso Epica, a dual boiler lever-controlled espresso machine that combines the best of tradition with industry-leading technology. Its manual lever lets you shape pump pressure by hand, ramping it up before extraction and easing it down after, while a fully saturated group and PID temperature control keep every shot stable and consistent. With vintage-inspired stainless steel body paneling, warm wood accents, a graphic colour touch display, and a dedicated 3.6L service boiler for powerful steam, the Epica delivers rich, flavorful espresso and velvety milk with professional-grade performance in your own kitchen. Superlative precision and control for baristas who appreciate style and function in equal measure.

Key Features

  • Manual Pressure Profiling: Lever control lets you ramp pump pressure up and down for pre- and post-infusion, giving you full control over every extraction (no automatic or semi-automatic modes)
  • Dual Boiler with Saturated Group: A 1.9L brew boiler and saturated group assembly (1200W) paired with a separate 3.6L service boiler (1400W), so you can brew and steam at the same time
  • PID Temperature Control: Adjustable brew temperature from 90°C to 110°C and steam boiler temperature from 110°C to 125°C
  • Volumetric Gear Pump: 24V permanent-magnet pump for precise, nearly silent operation, with a 7.2 L/min flow rate
  • Graphic Colour Touch Display: Adjust temperatures, switch the steam boiler on or off, check the shot counter, and program auto on/off for up to two cycles per day
  • Dual Pressure Gauges: Monitor both boiler pressure and pump pressure in real time
  • AISI 316L Stainless Steel Boilers: Premium, corrosion-resistant boilers built for long-term durability
  • Flexible Water Supply: Use the built-in 1.9L reservoir or connect directly to a water line with the included steel braided hose
  • Hot Water Tempering Valve: Adjust the temperature of the hot water tap without affecting steam pressure (when plumbed in)
  • No-Burn Steam Wand and Hot Water Wand: Steam milk safely and dispense hot water for tea or Americanos
  • All Stainless Steel Construction: Stainless steel bodywork and frame with vintage-inspired paneling

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Epica a spring lever machine?
No. The Epica uses a volumetric pump, and the lever controls the pump pressure by hand. This lets you create your own pressure profile for each shot, with smooth ramping before and after extraction. It has no automatic or semi-automatic brewing modes.

Can I brew and steam at the same time?
Yes. The Epica has two independent boilers: a 1.9L brew boiler with a saturated group and a 3.6L service boiler for steam and hot water.

How long does it take to heat up?
Allow about 20 to 25 minutes for the machine to reach full operating temperature and pressure.

Can I connect it directly to a water line?
Yes. The Epica works with its built-in 1.9L reservoir or can be plumbed in using the included steel braided hose. The water line pressure should be between 1 and 4 bar, and the installation should be done by a certified plumber. Once connected, you switch the water source from tank to water supply in the settings menu.

Can I adjust the brew and steam temperatures?
Yes. Through the touch display you can set the brew temperature between 90°C and 110°C and the steam boiler temperature between 110°C and 125°C. You can also switch the steam boiler off when you only want to make espresso.

Can I program it to turn on automatically?
Yes. The auto on/off function lets you program up to two on/off cycles per day for each day of the week, so the machine is warm and ready when you need it.

What type of water should I use?
Use soft, filtered drinking water. If your water is hard, use a water softener. Avoid distilled water, since the machine needs some mineral content to read water levels correctly. Rocket Espresso does not recommend descaling, so controlling water quality is key.

How much space do I need?
The machine measures 420 x 505 mm, and its height is 645 mm with the lever in the vertical position. Check the clearance under your cabinets before placing it.

Care & Maintenance

  • After each use: Wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth and purge it for a few seconds to clear milk residue
  • After each shot: Knock out the puck, wipe the filter basket clean, and flush the group head. Return the portafilter to the group to keep it warm and protect the group seal
  • Daily: Backflush the group head with water using the backflush cap until the water runs clear
  • Weekly: Backflush with espresso machine cleaning detergent, then backflush again with clean water to remove all residue
  • Periodically: Remove the shower screen and dispersion screen and soak them, along with the portafilters and baskets, in a cleaning detergent solution to remove coffee oils. Clean the water reservoir and drip tray with warm soapy water
  • Bodywork: Wipe the stainless steel with a soft, damp, non-abrasive cloth and polish with a dry cloth. Avoid commercial stainless steel cleaners
  • Water quality: Always use fresh, filtered water. Rocket Espresso does not recommend descaling, so a water softener or the Rocket Espresso reservoir filter is the best way to prevent scale buildup
  • Long-term: The group head seal may need to be replaced from time to time. Any service or repair should be performed by an authorized Rocket Espresso technician
