Frequently Asked Questions

Does it grind by weight or by time?
By time. You can program the grinding time for single, double, and triple doses, and use continuous grinding when you need full manual control.

How do I set my doses?
First dial in your grind using continuous grinding and a precision scale. Once your extraction time is right, press and hold the “R” symbol on the display to enter programming, select the dose, and use the “+” and “–” symbols to adjust the grinding time.

How do I adjust the grind size?
Turn the knob clockwise for a finer grind and counterclockwise for a coarser grind. If there are beans between the burrs, adjust with the motor running. After each adjustment, discard the first two double doses, since they may contain coffee from the previous setting.

Is it suitable for filter coffee?
The Giannino is designed and factory-set for espresso grinding, which is where it performs best.

Will it fit my portafilter?
Yes. The metal fork is height-adjustable: loosen the screws half a turn, slide the fork to the right height for your portafilter, and tighten them again.

What happens if the motor overheats?
The grinder shuts off automatically to protect the motor. The safety device resets on its own; wait 15 to 30 minutes for the motor to cool down before restarting.

How much space do I need?
The Giannino measures 162 x 246 x 400 mm, including the hopper, making it compact enough to fit next to most home espresso machines.

Care & Maintenance

  • Regularly: Remove the plastic parts, such as the hopper and lid, and wash them thoroughly with water and a neutral detergent. Never put plastic parts in the dishwasher
  • Body: Wipe with a damp cloth, taking care around water-sensitive parts such as the power switch
  • Grinding chamber: Close the hopper shutter and grind out any remaining beans before removing the hopper. Clean the grinding chamber with a brush and a vacuum. The burrs are sharp, so wear suitable gloves
  • What to avoid: Never use metal or abrasive tools, such as steel wool, wire brushes, or needles, or generic cleaners such as alcohol or solvents
  • Long-term storage: Unplug the grinder, empty the hopper, wash all parts that come into contact with coffee, cover the grinder, and store it in a dry place above 1°C
  • Service: Maintenance that involves replacing worn components should be performed by qualified technical staff using original spare parts
